The Eastside Harmony Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International; the world's largest singing organization for women, whose purpose it is to teach and perform the art of four-part harmony, barbershop style.
Eastside Harmony Chorus chartered in 1991 and has a history of singing excellence. Eastside Harmony placed 10th out of 22 choruses in the annual competition in Syracuse, New York. The annual competition is a singing extravaganza that takes place over the course of four days in late April or early May and involves hundreds of energetic women from all over northern New York state and Southern Ontario.
New members are always welcome at Eastside Harmony! There is no singing experience required; we have a wonderful education program to teach all aspects of singing four-part harmony. You don't even need to know how to read music as learning tapes or CDs are provided. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the West Rouge Community Centre, 270 Rouge Hills Drive, West Hill. We take a break during July and resume again in August, this year on the 21st. For information on membership please contact our Membership Coordinator, Val Dunham And please come out to our Guest Night - Thursday, September 18, '08
The Chorus also likes to participate in community events. A portion of the Chorus had the pleasure of entertaining at the Annual General Meeting of the Pineridge Arts Council while other representative groups of the Chorus performed at the Wedding dinner of Kay and Ulf on April 4th. If you would be interested in having Eastside Harmony Chorus participate in your event, please contact our Performance Co-ordinator, Ramola Vanderhyden for further information.
